Hãy Yêu Thương Nhau - Father Martino Nguyen Ba Thong Official Site Blog
On the 10th Anniversary of your Priesthood (2004 – June 5 – 2014), we would like to thank you for your loving example of self-sacrifice and generous service to One Body Village. You are...
“…Knowing that affliction produces endurance, and endurance, proven character, and proven character, hope .” (Romans 5:3-4)
The way you handle adversities has a huge impact on your success in life? If you shrink back, choose to get bitter and lose your enthusiasm, then you are allowing the difficulties of life to bury you. You are allowing hardship to keep you from your God-given destiny. But if you choose to keep pressing forward with a smile on your face, rejoicing even in the hard times, you are allowing God’s character to be developed inside of you. You are setting yourself up for promotion.
The truth is, we all must learn to appreciate our differences. Don’t try to squeeze everybody into your little box. And don’t allow anyone else to cramp your style. Certainly, we can always learn from other people, and sometimes we need to be open to change. But you need not feel insecure because you don’t have the same physical, emotional, or intellectual traits that someone else has. Be happy with who God made you to be.
You can dare to be happy with who you are right now and accept yourself, faults and all. A lot of us don’t realize it, but the root cause of many social, physical, and emotional problems is simply the fact that people don’t like themselves. They are uncomfortable with how they look, how they talk, or how they act. They don’t like their personality. They are always comparing themselves with other people, wishing they were something different. “If I just had his personality….” “If I looked like she looks…” “If my thighs just weren’t so big…” “If I had less here and more somewhere else, then I’d be happy.”
Israel’s second ruler, King David, made a lot of mistakes. He committed adultery and even ordered a man to be murdered. But when he repented and sought forgives, God forgave him and gave him a new start. The Bible compliments David, saying, “He was a man after God’s own heart.” (Acts 13:12) David didn’t focus on his faults or on the things he had done wrong. No, he lived favor-minded. It was David who wrote, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.” (Psalm 23:6) Notice, he was expecting goodness and mercy, not part of the time, but all the days of his life. I like the way the message translation puts it: “God’s kindness and goodness chases me down everywhere I go.” David’s attitude was, “I just can’t get away from the good things of God!”
“…He sends them [rains] forth, and they overwhelm the land.” (Job 12:15)
Last three days, on the news, the weather person announced that we’re going to be under a Flash Flood Warning. That means conditions are ripe for possible flooding. Water could get out of its normal boundaries. It could overflow and increase in such a way that drainage and bayous are overwhelmed.
