Every year, a reunion – already predetermined, a special meeting, a meeting for those who left and who stayed, of which is highly anticipated by every single person. A meeting filled with passion and care. Just like that, little by little….
That is the mission expedition of Father Martino Thong, and every time, Father always reserve some time to spend with his children, the children at the OBV House. After his trip to Dai Nam, Father along with L.N – a volunteer on this 2010 mission, took all the children to go shopping for new clothes to celebrate New Year. The most fragile one is X., who has just been discharged from the hospital, has not fully recovered, her walks are still wobbly. But upon hearing about it, she begged to come along with everyone.
She’s still suffering from the side effects of medications, causing her limbs to be stiffed. Father kneeled down next to her to help her try on different shoes even though Father himself, is suffering from severe back pain. Miss L.N. is constantly behind her back to support her from falling backward.
People commented: “Oh, she is so blessed. I haven’t seen any dads taking his daughter shopping and showing this much care before.”
Since X. is still weak, everyone hurried to make purchases so that X. could go home first to rest. After making a around at the shops, prices were ridiculously high, everyone decided to stop by the supermarket instead….
Cross the street together
Everyone on the bus…..
Everyone smile before leaving…
“Tuy bố không phải là bố ruột nhưng bố thương con còn hơn thế nữa…”
Besides caring and loving the children at OBV, Father Martino Thong always hope that the children continue to love and care for each other. After they got home, he called everyone over and had a few words.
“Papa, we will learn to love each other like you have taught us. Thank you Papa.”
This is a special note written to Papa from a child who was almost completely illiterate before coming to OBV house. And these are the words after a month of practice; there are many grammar mistakes, wrong word choice, etc. Despite that, you could sense all the love we want to express to you, right Papa?
