Jesus’ gift: LOVE
The mass of the Holy Thursday speaks the memoir of Jesus’ leaving his disciples. Jesus knew his time is coming, he had to be seized and went thru his passion and finally died on the cross. He had nothing as money, gold, or precious treasuries to leave as his will to his disciples, he had only 3 precious gifts: first The Eucharist, secondly the Holy Orders and thirdly the command of Love.
The Eucharist is Jesus himself become the food for our souls.
The Holy Orders is Jesus himself continuing to serve his peoples.
The command of Love is Jesus himself in our midst who loves one each other.
That’s three simple gifts. The three are different aspects of the only one gift is Jesus’ Love.
His love is mailed to the addresses which are our hearts. The list of the addresses has our names: each person, each family, and each parish. Why? Because He knew that each of us need to be saved and eager to be saved.
As matter of fact, we though are the individuals, the groups, do make the mistakes and have the spiritual weaknesses. Inside our heart have Judas’ traitor, inside our heart have Peter’s intimidate, inside our heart have Pharisee’s jealous and inside our heart have the crowd’s inconsideration toward Jesus.
Also inside our heart have Pilate’s hesitation, the soldiers’ cruelty and furthermore, inside our heart have Mary’s grief and loneliness during the period of Jesus’ passion. The truth is each of us needs Jesus’ salvation.
Our Savior Jesus, only He is our Redeemer. He gave us his great love and it’s the great gift of the salvation, we must receive this precious gift.
To receive this valuable gift, we have to be humble before God, to be faithful to God, and be generous to our sisters and brothers who do not even have the minimum standards of their lives.
Jesus redeemed us thru his humble sample of the washing feet Jesus redeemed us thru his passions and ultimately died on the cross. Jesus redeemed us thru his truly present in the small host & wine which we receive each Sunday or any occasions. Of course, we can not do as Jesus did to us, but we can follow his footstep and gradually we acknowledge his love and his redemption.
In this moment, let’s come and see Jesus, look at Him and say: we thank you for your love, your care, and we want to be in your heart and become your active followers. Amen.
