A Study Of The Bread of Life Discourse

I am a priest today because of the words which I just read to you. Because Jesus says that “I am the bread of life” and that he will raise us up on the last day, we as Catholic believers maintain that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist, and that we receive him body, blood and divinity when we step forward for communion. However, my path towards that understanding was not an easy one, and it was only after I left the Church for a while did I come to realize their importance and appreciate their absence in my life.

Bottom Line: So my dear friends, the most precious gift (beside God becomes Man!” that belong to God, but he has given to mankind is life! Therefore, no one, and I mean no one, no king nor president, nor the General Secretary of the United Nations can take it away! Now, it is yours to keep, and it is your responsibility to defend and protect that most precious gift!

Bottom Line: The man wanted to enjoy the gifts of God without being committed to His Kingdom. This parable confronts us with the question: How do we wear our Christianity? I have a cross around my neck. That’s nice. But that’s insufficient. That’s a mere sign of the Presence of the Lord. To wear our Christianity, our lifestyle must consist in choosing Jesus in every aspect of our lives.

Bottom line:Last Sunday we might have left the Church hyped up to do his will, but then for the rest of the week we forgot we were Catholics until Sunday came again. Don’t worry, we can begin today! Lighthouses by definition make no noise. They just shine. That’s our job. Christ, it is said, is not a psychologist. He is a cardiologist. He listens not to words but to hearts. I think St. Francis Assisi summed it up wonderfully “Preach the Gospel at all times, use words ONLY when NECESSARY!
